After living in the Hawkesbury for 23 years and working in small animal vet clinics for 25 years, veterinarian Dr Shawna Mackenzie set up the Hawkesbury Mobile Vaccination and Microchipping Service in 2002.
She found that many people only take their dogs and cats to a vet for routine vaccinations and heartworm injections. Many of these pets equate car travel with a visit to the vet so stress levels are up as soon as they’re bundled into the vehicle!
Also finding the time and mode of transport to get your pet to the vet for routine vaccinations can be a hassle, especially for the elderly, parents with young children and owners of large dogs.
In addition breeders, particularly with large litters, can also find it difficult to transport them for their initial vaccinations and microchipping.
Once at the vet stress can increase, particularly if sitting for long periods in waiting rooms often with many other animals to encounter. On top of this, it’s possible some animals may be unwell with contagious diseases.
So...have a professional and friendly vet come to you.... on time and at no extra cost.
You don’t have to leave the house and your pet doesn’t have to leave the comfort of its own familiar surroundings.
Shawna specialises in providing a friendly and professional service covering vaccinations, microchipping, heartworm injections, worming, general health and behaviour advice and caring and compassionate in home euthanasia.
Shawna has the time to give your animals individual and thorough attention. She prides herself on giving full explanations and advice to her clients (and their owners!)
Often examining animals in their own environment may give key indicators as to the cause of many conditions e.g. skin allergies and toxicities. In addition, issues such as behaviour problems can be studied more thoroughly e.g. interaction with other animals, and seeing where pets eat and sleep.
While she is happy to give pet owners advice on things such as skin conditions and arthritis problems, anything requiring surgery, hospitalisation or further investigation will be referred to a good local hospital.
With each visit a “tip to tail” checkup is included and her prices are comparable to other clinics. Shawna does not charge an additional “travel fee” for her calls.
Discounts are given for multiple animals and litters.
